Letter from the director

Dear delegates,

It is a true honor for me to welcome you to the World Health Organization (WHO) committee for this edition of the 2025 WCMUN Internal. My name is Ammy Vargas, and along with Mariano Pinedo, we will have the privilege of directing and moderating this simulation, which we are sure will provide us with great learning and experiences.

Outside of MUN, I truly enjoy reading, learning new languages, listening to all kinds of music, and studying topics that spark my curiosity. I believe all of this is also part of what builds us as global citizens: having an open mind, active empathy, and a desire to always keep learning. For a long time, I dreamed of participating in a Model United Nations. However, for most of my school years, my institution didn't promote such initiatives, nor was I invited to the simulations held in our city. Despite this, I didn't let that stop me. I began doing my own research, watching lectures, reading guides, and imagining myself one day being there. That moment came this year, when I participated in PaduaMUN 2025, my first MUN, where I represented Brazil on the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). It was a huge challenge, but also one of the most enriching experiences of my life. I received a verbal acknowledgment, and while some may see it as a small achievement, for me it was the push I needed to believe in myself and keep moving forward.

And that's the same drive I hope you find in this committee.

The MUN isn't just about diplomacy or debate. It's a transformative tool; it strengthens your ability to speak confidently, helps you analyze information critically, and, above all, teaches you to work as a team with people very different from you, but who are all seeking the same thing: real solutions to real problems. If you allow yourself to live this experience to the fullest, I assure you that you will leave here with new skills, new ideas, and, why not, new friendships.

During this process, I encourage you to be daring, to raise your hand, to question, to propose, to debate respectfully, to build bridges and not walls. You are not alone in this process. Both I and the rest of the team will be here to support, guide, and accompany you in whatever you need. I am very excited to hear your interventions, read your resolutions, and see how you make this committee your own. Let's give the WHO the debate it deserves!

With enthusiasm and total willingness,
