Letter from the director
Dear delegates,
It is an honor to address you as the Director of the Security Council at this first edition of the internal Model United Nations at the Valores y Ciencias School. My name is Yolita Martínez Alva, and my journey at MUN began right here at this school, when I had the opportunity to participate in the first Model United Nations they organized, open to students from other institutions. Since then, I have also represented my school at external conferences such as the MUN at the San Antonio de Padua School, receiving recognition in both experiences. Participating in these types of events has been truly special for me, as it has allowed me to learn, debate, propose solutions, and, above all, realize that as students we can also play an active role in addressing global issues.
The committee we are about to form will address a topic as current as it is complex: the development and use of new technologies and artificial intelligence in the military. This issue requires in-depth analysis, critical thinking, and a genuine interest in the challenges facing the international community in terms of security, ethics, and global cooperation. Beyond telling you about myself, I want to share what I value most in a delegate: authenticity, a willingness to learn, and commitment. You don't need to be an expert to shine at a MUN; all you need is the willingness to prepare, participate respectfully, and seize every opportunity to improve. To those who will be participating for the first time, I say: don't be afraid to make mistakes. We all start out without knowing much, and it's okay to feel nervous. Trust yourself, ask questions when you have doubts, and don't hesitate to support each other. And if this is your second time or more, I encourage you to give your all and be an example of leadership and collaboration.
Furthermore, I will not be alone on this journey. I will be joined by Flavio Panduro, who will be the moderator of our committee and will play a very important role. Together, we will be here to support you, guide you, and ensure that this experience is enriching for everyone. I hope this guide will be a good starting point for your research and inspire you to fully engage in the debate. I am very excited to meet you, read your position papers, and see the solutions you will be able to build.
With love and enthusiasm,

Moderator letter
Dear delegates,
It is an honor to address you as the moderator of the Security Council in this first edition of the internal Model United Nations at the Colegio Valores y Ciencias (Values and Sciences School). My name is Flavio Panduro, and like many of you, I discovered the world of MUNs as a new, challenging, and transformative experience. Over time, I have learned how valuable these spaces are for developing skills such as critical thinking, argumentation, and teamwork, as well as opening our minds to the challenges of the international context.
On this occasion, I am pleased to accompany Yolita Martínez Alva, director of our committee, in leading the debates on a topic as complex and relevant as the development and use of new technologies and artificial intelligence in the military. This topic not only demands information and analysis, but also a profound ethical reflection on the future of security and global cooperation.
As moderator, I will be in charge of guiding the formal procedure of the debate, ensuring that timelines are respected, maintaining order in the committee, and, above all, ensuring that each of you has the space and confidence to express yourself freely and respectfully. Don't worry if this is your first time; I am here to support you, answer your questions, and ensure that your participation is meaningful. To those who have participated before, I encourage you to lead by example, motivate your colleagues, and continue to grow. And to those new to this experience, I say with all sincerity: dare. Participating in a MUN is a unique opportunity to learn from others, to listen to each other, and to discover what they are capable of.
Count on me throughout the entire process. I'm very excited to share this space with you and see everything we'll accomplish as a committee.
With appreciation and enthusiasm,
Flavio Panduro
