Letter from the director

Dear delegates,

Please accept my cordial greetings. My name is Leydi Torres Saavedra, and I have the honor of serving as the Director of the UN Women committee for the internal Model United Nations at the Colegio Valores y Ciencias (Values and Sciences College). I feel deeply committed to the work of UN Women, a key organization in promoting gender equality, women's empowerment, and the eradication of violence against women and girls worldwide. As the director of this committee, my main objective is to provide you with a space for serious, respectful, and dynamic debate, where you can thoroughly analyze current challenges in gender equality, propose viable solutions, and develop diplomatic and leadership skills.

I fully trust each delegate's ability to contribute creative ideas and sound arguments. I look forward to guiding you throughout this process, ensuring compliance with the debate rules, and fostering an enriching experience both academically and personally.   I invite you to prepare responsibly, thoroughly research the proposed topics, and, above all, enjoy this experience that allows us to grow as conscious and engaged global citizens.

With enthusiasm and respect,

Letter from the moderator

Dear delegates,

Please accept my cordial greetings. My name is Abril Roca, a student at Simón Bolívar School and currently in her fifth year of high school. It is a true honor for me to welcome you to this edition of VC MUN 2025, an academic space that brings together young people committed to critical analysis, constructive dialogue, and the search for solutions to the global challenges that shape our reality. I am excited to be able to accompany you as a guide and supporter in this process, which, beyond being a competition or simulation, represents a unique opportunity to grow, express yourself, and take on an active role as global citizens. For many of you—like me—this will be the first time participating in a Model United Nations. And that is precisely what makes it special: we are here to learn, share, make mistakes, and improve together.

During these days, you will have the opportunity to represent a country, an organization, or an international actor. Every word you express, every proposal you construct, will be a valuable contribution to a debate that goes beyond the walls of a classroom. I invite you to assume this responsibility with enthusiasm, curiosity, and commitment. I am convinced that each of you has the talent, ability, and attitude to make this committee an interactive, inclusive, and memorable space, where respect for the diversity of ideas and teamwork are our main tools.

Together, we can make a difference and demonstrate that young people don't just express opinions, but also propose, analyze, and build. I wish you an experience full of learning, new friendships, and challenges that will inspire you to grow. See you soon to demonstrate that, with dedication and resilience, we are capable of facing any challenge that comes our way.

With admiration and confidence,

Abril Roca
