Letter from the director
Dear delegates,
It is an honor to address you as the Director of the Security Council at this first edition of the internal Model United Nations at the Valores y Ciencias School. My name is Yolita Martínez Alva, and my journey at MUN began right here at this school, when I had the opportunity to participate in the first Model United Nations they organized, open to students from other institutions. Since then, I have also represented my school at external conferences such as the MUN at the San Antonio de Padua School, receiving recognition in both experiences. Participating in these types of events has been truly special for me, as it has allowed me to learn, debate, propose solutions, and, above all, realize that as students we can also play an active role in addressing global issues.
The committee we are about to form will address a topic as current as it is complex: the development and use of new technologies and artificial intelligence in the military. This issue requires in-depth analysis, critical thinking, and a genuine interest in the challenges facing the international community in terms of security, ethics, and global cooperation. Beyond telling you about myself, I want to share what I value most in a delegate: authenticity, a willingness to learn, and commitment. You don't need to be an expert to shine at a MUN; all you need is the willingness to prepare, participate respectfully, and seize every opportunity to improve.
To those who will be participating for the first time, I say: don't be afraid to make mistakes. We all start out without knowing much, and it's okay to feel nervous. Trust yourself, ask questions when you have doubts, and don't hesitate to support each other. And if this is your second time or more, I encourage you to give your all and be an example of leadership and collaboration.

Letter from the moderator
Dear delegates,
Welcome everyone to VCMUN 2025! It is a true honor for me, along with Alis Amasifuén, to lead the UNESCO Historical Committee for this year's event. This committee holds a very special place in my heart, as it marked a momentous stage in my training as a school delegate during the PaduaMUN 2025 Tarapoto External Conference. On that occasion, I had to debate in Spanish in the SOCHUM committee, an enriching experience that not only strengthened my diplomatic skills but also awakened in me a deep admiration for the work of the directors and moderators. Now, with such a controversial topic as Freedom of the Press, I sincerely hope that this day of debate will be productive and enriching on a personal level. I wish you a meaningful experience and, of course, that you enjoy every moment of the process.
Let me cordially introduce myself. My name is Zoila Dávila, I am 16 years old and I am currently in my last year of high school at F.I.R. School. Throughout my school career, I have been characterized as a student committed to academic excellence, responsible, perseverant and with a marked vocation for active participation both in activities within my school and in external events. Participating in this committee represents for me a valuable opportunity to continue growing, learn from each one of you and enthusiastically contribute to this collective experience. I love to read and draw in my free time. It is like a hobby to distract myself from many things outside of studies.
Regarding my experience at the MUN, I had the honor of being part of the team that represented my educational institution at PaduaMUN 2025, alongside a group of committed and talented colleagues. This was my first participation in a MUN, and I must admit that I was quite nervous at first, since, despite having received the necessary information, I was facing a completely new and demanding format. That first encounter with the MUN world allowed me to develop communication, critical analysis, and teamwork skills that I deeply value today and wish to continue strengthening. Likewise, the work of the SOCHUM committee director and moderators generated great admiration, especially for their mastery of the subject matter and their leadership, which further sparked my interest in debate. Regarding my expectations for this committee, I invite you to show your best. I value competitiveness accompanied by order and discipline, so I hope you arrive prepared for in-depth analysis and debate. As a committee, we look for you to exercise positive leadership, based on collaboration and respect. We don't want selfish or authoritarian attitudes, but rather delegates who connect with each other and create an environment where everyone can excel together.
Finally, remember that the director and I will be here to guide and support you throughout the session. I'm convinced this will be an enriching and unforgettable experience for each of you. Give it your all! :)
I wish you the best,
